Crisis Averted
What a couple of days we've had!
On Sunday afternoon, Ardyn started acting a little 'funny. She lay on me and just, well, lay there. Very unusual for a 22 month old who's usually so full of beans, and had been running around about like a madchild about an hour earlier.
After lying there for about half an hour she decided to sit up and vomit all over me. Lovely. Then while cleaning her up, we had stuff out the other end, and more vomitting. Overnight she was burning up, and this didnt' change yesterday (Monday). She woke up quite listless, and continued vomitting. She couldn't keep anything down, not even water.
She was so dopey too. Falling asleep every halp hour or so for half an hour to an hour at a time.
We managed to get in to see our doctor, even though there wasn't a free appointment. I love that our doctor will do that. And I guess when you have a child sick like this it's important that they see you. First thing that she told me was that Ardyn was a 'borderline' case for being admitted to hospital to be treated for dehydration. I had to try to get more water into her, and call her at about 5pm to let her know how she's going.
When we got home, Ardyn proceeded to vomit all over me again, and then curled up on the couch and fell asleep. At 5 when I called the doc, Ardyn was still asleep, and the doc said that the test will be how she is when she wakes up. If she is still 'as flat as a pancake' we had to take her straight to Hospital. If she perked up with a bit of Panadol and her daddy coming home, we would only need to take her if she threw up again.
Well, she did perk up a little bit when Cal came home. She even managed to crack a smile, sit upright and become more aware of what was going on around her. So we decided that she could go to bed, and if she threw up, then we'd take her.
At 6am this morning she toddled into our bedroom, crawled into bed with us and proceeded to babble away. When Cal got up to have a shower, she decided to run into the bathroom to give daddy a big hug. She was definitley feeling better. She had no fever and had colour back to her face. As we were up, Cal got a lift to the bus.
After we got home we sat up and watched Nick Jr for a little bit, and then at about 8am, she decided that she wanted to go to bed. It's now 9:50 and I haven't heard a peep from her. She's buggered the poor little thing, but at least she's at home with me, and not in a hospital bed in Randwick.
Crisis averted. Thought that you'd all like ot know about the 'excitement' that we've had.
