Lest We Forget

I always have a quiet moment on ANZAC Day. Maybe it's becuase I come from a military family (both sides), that both my grandfathers made it back from combat, or that my grandmother was the first registered WAAAF. That if my father hadn't decided not to go to Vietnam I wouldn't exist. That a lot of the girls I met through scrapbooking have husbands and partners in the Armed Forces. I don't know. I just have a sentimental thing about the military, and those who we have lost who have served us.

I am thankful for what has been done for us so that we can live in the country that we do today. I am thankful for the people who put their lives on the line every day so that we can have a better life. I envy the people in the Armed Forces for their courage to defend our country and way of life.

Thank you.

I want to leave you with a little bit from a letter that I have from my grandfather to my grandmother when he was posted away during WWII. I just love the language. People just don't write like this today. He sounds like a bit of a ladies man I think. I have folders of these letters. Maybe I'll de something with them one day................
