I have a weakness for baked goods.
I blame Ardyn.
As I write this I am munching on a piece of home made carrot and walnut cake.
I find that baking is something we enjoy to do together. And of course we enjoy the outcome.
This icing is so yummy.
I have to stop eating what I make......but what fun is that???
Oh well. Love handles are sexy aren't they???
Well what a week we've had. Well, not really a week, but about 4 days.
Last Wednesday I ran into one of the mum's from Kindy who mentioned that her daughter had caught this bug......sudden onset fever..........blah blah.....violent vomiting......ick yuck.......didn't last long..........natter natter.........doc said it's going around. Just be aware.
On Thursday night Ardyn didn't eat dinner, got a sudden onset fever...................it was just a matter of time wasn't it?? It happened at about 10pm. And violent doesn't describe it. It just kept coming. And coming. And coming. And when there was nothing left she luft kept dry retching. Lovely.
Cal took her into our bed (he's game) and I slept in the spare room (aka Jeff's bed). Poor Cal, but good Ardyn. She woke him whenever she felt like she would hurl, so nothing in the bed, but poor Cal got very little sleep.
The next day she was pretty lethrgic, so it was good that it was just a day at home with no plans. Lying on the couch. Sleeping. Then.........in the afternoon I put Bailey down with a slight fever. Bugger!!! I had some girlfriends coming over that night, and canceled them. I didn't want them to take this home to their loved ones. I wasn't sure at that stage, but I didn't want to take any chances. Then she grumped and wouldn't eat her dinner (I'd seen this before). Off to bed with a slight fever, but nothing too bad. I wasn't going to hold my breath though, it was just a matter of time.
I heard the screams and when I looked at my clock it said 3:27am. Yuck! As soon as I opened her door the smell hit me and I knew what I was in for. Except this one was worse in the fact that she must have been lying down when she did it, and it was EVERYWHERE. Like through her hair and everywhere. Gotta love babies.
So I changed her and she went to Cal while I got her bed changed. She kept going while Cal had her, but nowhere near as bad as Ardyn. I left Cal to sleep and took her downstairs with me. I knew that she hadn't finished, and I didn't feel lliek changing beds again. So she lay in my lap on a towel while I watch the 3:30am episodes of Sex and the City. She kept going, and although I attempted to get her to sleep on me for a little, she wouldn't have a bar of it.
Once I was pretty sure that her tummy was empty, I put her back to bed. 5am I think it was. Around there. I was delerious, but unable to sleep.
The next day (yesterday) Ardyn was better, but still a bit funny. She nearly chucked in the morning, and did later in the afternoon. She just couldn't keep anything on her stomach. And Bailey didn't eat. She woke at 10am and had a watered down bottle, and that was pretty much it until another bottle at 6:30pm. I bathed her and couldn't get the stink out of her hair. So it continued............then they eventually went to bed, and the day came to an end.
I fell asleep on the couch at about 8:30pm, and can't really remember going to bed, but I know that I did. I next woke at about 7am when Arydn came in.
Today was another lazy day, and it was Bailey's turn to not eat, but Ardyn seems okay. Bailey has had some problems settling down tonight, but I think that she's okay.
I have done so many loads of laundry this weekend. I'm so glad that the weather was fine.
I'm sick of cleaning vomit.
Why is it that it's always the mum that gets to clean the vomit?
We baked AWESOME carrot and wanut cake.
I am off to have another piece.
I have a weakness for baked goods.

That carrot and walnut cake sounds superb but I have no idea how you can eat while you tell the vomiting stories. Ewww
I hope both girls are feeling better and mum and dad don't get it too.
